Abstract
The objective of the present study was to explore the relationship of academic performance (grade point average) with scholarship, sex, religiosity and locus of control in terms of statistical and practical significance (prediction = betas, β; coefficient of multiple linear determination: R2; and effect size: Cohen's f2) with a sample of students from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) (n = 715). Their grade point average, scholarship access and gender (male and female) were collected. The Duke Religion Index Religiosity Scale and the La Rosa Locus of Control Scale were applied. Multiple linear regression was used with the stepwise regression procedure. The best model obtained a calculated probability < α =.05; R2 = .17; f2 =.21; and betas ≠ 0. These results are similar to those reported in the literature.
