Abstract

Interprofessional education has shown evidence of its effectiveness in different universities around the world. In Mexico, no evidence of interprofessional education programs' effectiveness has been reported. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an interprofessional education intervention in a group of students from the health service areas, comparing the pre and post-scores of self-efficacy in interprofessional competencies and knowledge, as well as assessing the satisfaction level of students with regard to the course through three surveys, one for each variable. One hundred and thirty-two students from five careers in a multi-professional unit participated. The results indicate significant improvement in self-efficacy and in two items about knowledge. There was a high level of satisfaction. We concluded that the interprofessional education course is effective. We suggest that future studies should include comparisons with a control group and the development of the next level of interprofessional education for students to develop their skills.
